What happens when I remove students from a group or subgroup?

When you take students out of a group...

By default

those students currently enrolled in group courses or learning paths will no longer be able to continue. However, all their progress information, including completion certificates, will be retained. These courses will be marked as “Not Visible” in the Admin panel, and students will only regain access if an admin reassigns the course to them.

But

If the students were invited to a course directly by an admin before joining the group, they will keep their progress and continue the course under that admin's management.

Important

  • Student leaves a group: a student who leaves a group will also automatically leave all its subgroups.

  • Student leaves a subgroup: however, if a student leaves a subgroup, they will not automatically leave the main group, thus keeping access to the groups courses and learning paths.
